Slovenia in a campervan - drive to Bohinj

During our adventures in Slovenia, we stopped at a range of spots for motorhomes and campers. Whilst only a few are worth dedicating a whole blog post to (you can find them all here), we thought it would be helpful to others to share all our stops.

We fell in love with Slovenia from the moment we arrived, and ended up spending longer there than we anticipated. One of our favourite places and experiences of our entire journey so far was here. We wrote all about that place in this post >> Camping On A Slovenian Farm. Not to be missed if you are visiting Slovenia in a campervan or any other way.

As a family of four with two young children we were looking for places that were (for the most part):

  • Quiet/peaceful (if not all the time, at night).
  • Near a playground if possible.
  • Farms or rural spots.

You’ll find all the spots listed below and on the map above. We’ve included a picture and any details we felt might be helpful.

We’ve also written about Italy In A Campervan and France In A Campervan, detailing all the places we stayed in our motorhome.

How we found places to stay

In Slovenia we predominately used Park4Night to find places to stay. We also used a farm stay guide we picked up from the Tourist Office in Kranj as a few of these places welcomed motorhomes.

For the purpose of this blog post, I used the areas as designated here on Think Slovenia.

Family run farm producing all their own food, kind and welcoming, they charge nothing to stay there, only ask that you come and enjoy some of their products. There was a little bar in the farm yard selling a few drinks and some of their charcuterie. On the weekend they opened like a restaurant, we ate their twice. Incredible value for a 3 course meal, delicious drinks, such as homemade apple juice. Truly incredible, one of our favourite places and experiences of our whole trip.
